The Deerfoot Meadows shopping district is a large (actually very large) concentration of big box retailers. Roughly it is south of Glenmore (mostly south of Heritage Dr), west of the Deerfoot trail (mostly) and bounded in the south by Southland Dr.  Before this area was developed it was not uncommon to see mule deer in what was then undeveloped grassy fields.
