It seems Calgary has become a raceway and yet reports lead us to believe everything is under control
I remember recently reading that the Calgary Police service was issuing less tickets this year for speeding and so the conclusion was that traffic enforcement is working.
I humbly disagree. Since it is summer time, I spend more time walking and biking and every time I do so, I see some jackass gunning his engine and doing 90 + on residential streets that should only be a maximum of 60.
My tipping point this morning was on the way to Tim Horton's at South Trail a young person (plate #WUV 358) decided I would be a good target for his habit of tailgating. Now it is important to know I don't drive either too fast or too slow, I drive reasonably. So if the limit is 60 then I am probably pretty close to that speed. What made this moment memorable is the degree of closeness. I am sure that if I had a way of measuring it then the distance between his bumper and mine would have been less than a couple of feet.
Someone out there tell me, can we report idiots like this?
Look around when you are out and about, how much speeding is reasonable in the suburbs. It has always been an unwritten rule that you can exceed the speed limit by let's say 10 percent and chances are good that you will not get a ticket, but really how far should people be pushing this. For example if you come out of the roundabout from Mckenzie Towne and you are doing 70 (it is a 60 zone) I can guarantee people heading toward the Deerfoot exit will blow by you at 90 +. That is just one example.

Re: Crazy Calgary Drivers
In August I reported a Calgary driver who tailgated me down a 50 Km zone. I quickly pulled over and thought he was gonna crash into me. This guy then gets out and yells his head off at me threatening to do damage to me. He was a native man with an SUV and the plate said Letsrock.
I have seen many speeders in play ground zone and school zones
I have come up with an idea of what I could do when I'm driving and find the equipment I need.
I can certianly relate to what you are saying......
