What is on your "want" list?
I am not really interested in sharing publicly my endorsements in the political arena. Yes, I make a point to vote whenever there is an election be it civic or provincial or federal.
I noticed this week that the campaigns are becoming "if elected I will give you this .....". Besides that being just silly, I am not sure that the giveaways really reflect what the voters want. So since everbody is doing it (giveaways). Here is my list in no particular order:
Reduce taxes on "sin" (alchohol & tobacco). We work hard and we should be able to play hard. Consider that the oppressive tobacco taxes are really a poor man's tax. Who smokes is who can least afford it.
Everybody is seriously concerned about the environment, lets see a serious grant for installing solar power, yeah make it real cheap to do so. I do believe that Alberta is one of the more sunnier places on the planet.
It is now proven that oral health is a vital part of overall health. If you are going to have medicare why aren't teeth covered?
On the topic of medicare, the easiest way to attract not only more doctors but also "great" doctors is by giving them the opportunity to earn. If you went to school for that many years and then more as a specialist wouldn't you want to get some pay back. I really don't begrudge a doctor making a great living.
Increase the focus on small business in this province, there is no reason we can't be silicone valley north. Per capita our education levels are amazing. We can do it.
I am sick and tired of getting chips in my windshield. This only happens here. Why? The road crews are permitted to use larger gravel for one, and secondly vehicles coming in from gravel roads bring along the bigger pieces embedded in their tires. These bigger pieces seem to sense my presence and jump to their freedom right onto my windshield. Texas gates or rumble strips would alleviate this nonsense.
We have a brave new world in digital connectivity. I would like to see more "mass" town hall meetings on major issues. Imagine if there would have been a mass poll on the royalty review.
